Change the Mobile World on the smartphone itself!

Every month tens of thousands of people verify their identity using Verifai software and apps! Verifai is a Belsimpel spin-off that develops smart ID verification apps. As an Android Developer you are at the heart of the development of advanced new ID authentication features and improve the existing features that are badly needed to support the growing user base. A unique opportunity to develop yourself and at the same time contribute to fighting identity fraud worldwide!

What does an Android Developer do?

As an Android Developer at team Verifai you arrive right into one of the largest projects Belsimpel is currently working on. We were looking for a user-friendly and privacy-proof method to automatically recognize and check ID cards for authenticity in the Belsimpel app, but did not find a good existing solution. At Belsimpel we are driven and prefer to do everything ourselves. This means we also developed the technology for Verifai in-house! Verifai is growing fast and we are releasing it onto the external market and you are indispensable in this.

You will optimise the basic application and SDK with which identity cards are automatically recognised and checked for authenticity (via NFC). Even more fun: you will start developing new features in order to expand the existing functionality further! Think about adding facial comparison: is the one who verifies himself really the one who belongs to the document? Or you implement the automatic reading of the data on the ID cards. You really give it your all, because thousands of users expect nothing more than that every month!

At Belsimpel there is always room for your own input. Unique with your work as an Android Developer at Belsimpel, is that you get the opportunity to contribute your trends and ideas. Together with your team you look ahead and think of the next steps for Belsimpel and Verifai. You make sure that we actually implement these plans in the apps. Whether you are just starting out or have a lot of experience with developing apps, there is plenty of room for personal development! As a team, we have a great deal of knowledge of a wide range of products such as Android, iOS and Web. Our Android apps are written in Kotlin, but you're also not opposed to a bit of Java here and there.

This is what your day may look like

While you start up your computer and drink a cup of coffee, you can see on the monitoring screen that a Sentry message has come in. Let's see what's going on. There turns out to be an error that needs to be solved quickly. You talk to Rutger for a moment and then quickly start a fix which you then launch. Another release done! You start the day together as a team. All colleagues of team Verifai working today meet up and together with Tim, the Product Owner, you discuss the plan for the day. The designs that were going to be made are already available to you after an hour, so you can get started. Before you know it, it's time for lunch and Johannes taps you on the shoulder. Do you want to come and pick up a burger from the Venezuelan? That sounds like a plan!

In the afternoon you review Rutger's code and together you go through the extensive test protocol. After all, thousands of customers work with this app; it has to work really well. Your update is reviewed on time by Google, and it is live in the Play Store and with our customers before the weekend. You cross off a number of tasks from your to-do and close your computer with a satisfied feeling. At a quarter to six you step into the canteen, where some colleagues are already waiting for you with a soda at our arcade machine. Are you going to beat the high score today? Cheers, to the weekend!
